Physical Training Instructor

Fitness has always been of prime importance in the Armed Services and following reorganisation after 1918, a brass badge was promulgated for the use of fitness instructors in 1923. This badge continued in use until October 1949, although economies dictated that a cloth version was introduced during WWII. From this date a redesigned cloth badge was to be used.

Early badge:

AMWO 2O4 1923-1949

Three bent arms holding Indian clubs, forming a circular shape. Within a central circular plaque, raised capital letters’PTI’ In brass stamping or L/blue silk on a D/blue, round cloth patch.
