Chapter Twenty-Three

Bacchus

My body ached deliciously as Anghus, and I walked into the precinct the following morning. When I sat at my desk I winced at my bruised hole. Anghus had taken me hard, exactly as I’d asked. When I glanced up, I noticed him watching me with a smug smirk on his face. I chuckled and shook my head.

“Good morning boys,” Merza said as she came into the room. “We have some news.”

I stood from my seat with another wince and walked to stand beside Anghus who reached out an arm and wrapped it around my waist, pulling me into his side.

“I’ve just heard from our contact, apparently the delivery of omega’s to the property that we raided last night is still planned. For whatever reason Martin and Noel hadn’t contacted them to cancel it. I’m assuming they were planning on doing that when they escaped.”

“What time is the delivery expected?” Memphis asked.

“Eight. We will have Memphis and Bacchus be the guys to take ownership of the omegas. The rest will be laid in wait and arrest the delivery drivers.”

“How do we know this isn’t a trap?” Jai asked. It was a good point. They could be assuming that we were going to want to take omega’s.

Merza winced and sighed. “We don’t. It is a risk we will have to take. We will do all we can to make sure that you guys are protected.”

Anghus growled low in his throat, and I knew he hated the idea of me going in without him. I stroked over his hand that was held around my middle. This was part of my job. We took calculated risks. But Anghus was my mate. He didn’t want to see me in danger at all.

“In other news, Kade has found who our rat was. They have been taken care of,” Merza said darkly. I winced. I didn’t know what punishment they had coming, but it didn’t sound good.

“Any news about Jantzen?” Jai asked.

Merza nodded her head. “I’ve spoken to Arcadia this morning. She is going to be searching the records. I’m letting Arcadia make first contact as his alpha when she finds him. Hopefully, he will be willing to speak to us, but if not, at least we tried. The witches have been going through the list of alpha’s that we were able to gather last night. Several of the alphas are known as part of Morpheus. It seems many of them began as fighters and once they got too old or damaged, they were sent to Martin and Noel to breed.”

It was my turn to growl low in my throat. I hated these men and what they did. It wasn’t enough to abuse the alpha children by making them fight, they weren’t even free once they were too old to fight. They were owned by Morpheus their whole lives. It made me realize just how lucky Anghus was to get out of it.

“Who are they?” Anghus questioned.

“We are working on bringing them in. From what we can tell there was a list of at least twelve Morpheus fighters.
