I was simply flabbergasted by his words. I had known he wanted us to bond; he couldn’t help it, the dragon in him called for its mate, but the fact he had considered a wedding and all of the things that went along with it just for me was shocking. I mean, I hadn’t even decided on the bonding part and he had already thought about a wedding? It was just too much!

“Stop,” he said. “I can feel you freaking out from here.” He tightened his fingers over mine. “None of that matters right now. I just want us to get to know one another and from there we will see. I don’t want to pressure you into anything.”

Sure, I thought, no pressure; I just want you to bond with me, live with me for the next few hundred years, and give birth to my dragon offspring which are needed to ensure my family line and keep all of dragon- kind from falling apart. Simple, right? HA! Double HA!

“Please, can we forget this for now and focus on having a good night?” he asked.

I nodded, only too happy to let it go for now. I was still dealing with the fact my boyfriend was a dragon. I wasn’t ready for anything else, was I?

We arrived at the school, where bright lights shone from the gym. He helped me from the car, placing his arm around me as we walked to the double doors that were thrown open for the dance.

“I love you,” he whispered in my ear as we entered the building.

“I love you too,” I said and I meant it, but did I love him enough to spend the rest of my life and then some with him? That was a question I wasn’t sure I could answer.

“There you two are,” Belynda said as we walked toward the table they had taken over. “I thought you two lovebirds changed your mind and decided to be alone tonight.”

I blushed but Draco spoke up. “Nope, just took my time admiring my girl before bringing her here to show her off.”

“She is beautiful,” Nate said earning a jab to his ribs from Belynda.

“Hey, back off, she’s taken,” Draco teased. The band the school hired began to play a slow song, and Draco looked to me. “You want to dance?” I nodded and he whisked me off to the dance floor, wrapping his arms around me and holding me close as we swayed to the music.“You really are beautiful,” he whispered.

“Flattery will get you everywhere,” I told him.

We danced until the song ended, both of us lost in the moment. He took me back to the table and held my chair as I sat then pushed it in. “I’m going to get us something to drink,” he said, placing a kiss on my bare shoulder over the slight scarring left over from my injuries.

“Okay,” I said laughing as he pecked my lips then strode off.

“Oh shit, here comes trouble,” Belynda said staring over my shoulder.
