The double-suction single-stage pump shown in Figure 6-8 is used extensively in nearly all types of service. The horizontally split casing provides easy access for maintenance and inspection of rotating parts without disturbing the piping. This pump is designed for capacities ranging from 10 to 20,000 gallons per minute.

For handling clear water at any temperature, the turbine-driven single-suction four-stage pump (see Figure 6-9) is capable of capacities ranging from 20 to 900 gallons per minute at heads up to 1500 feet. These pumps are both mechanically and hydraulically efficient.
