Darcy

I take in Atlas’s dark wash jeans and his button-down shirt. He’s got the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and a pair of scuffed boots on his feet. He looks casual but still hot as hell. His black hair is a little messy, like he’s been running his hands through it.

He asks me about my day as we drive toward downtown and I try to focus on his questions instead of the lustful gleam in his pale blue eyes. We park in the lot for Abernathy Brewhouse, some new brewery that opened up a couple of months ago. I haven’t eaten here before but I’ve heard good things. I smile at Atlas as he offers me his hand as we get out of the car.

He leads me toward the front entrance and I smile down at our joined hands. There’s a little bit of a wait at the front desk and I lean against the wall next to him as we wait for our table to be cleared. Atlas leans down and brushes a loose strand of hair behind my ear, grinning down at me.

I look away from him and notice a few people giving us weird looks. At first, I think it’s because of my curvier form or the fact that someone who looks like Atlas is with someone who looks like me but then I realize that most of the stares are at Atlas. I figure that the girls are checking him out until I see a girl wearing a cardigan buttoned all the way up scrunch her nose up at him.

It’s the tattoos and piercings, I realize and I glare back at her when she catches me watching her. She turns away and I turn my back on her, hoping that she catches a look at the new tattoo on my back. I wore this halter dress specifically to show off my new ink. Plus, I was worried about anything rubbing against it still.

The hostess calls our name and we follow her through the crowded restaurant to a high table in the back. Atlas helps me into the taller chair, his hands grabbing my hips and he lifts me effortlessly onto the tall stool.

“Thanks,” I murmur and he smiles at me, leaning down to whisper in my ear.

“Anything for you, Darcy.”

I shiver as his warm breath fans over the shell of my ear and his hand grips the back of my neck, squeezing lightly as he takes his own seat next to me. His jean clad knee brushes against my bare one and I shift on my chair, wanting to feel more of him pressed up against me.

For the millionth time, my mind flashes back to our kiss last night in the back of the tattoo shop. I can’t get the way he felt pressed up against me out of my mind. That hard bulge in his jeans pressing into me or the way his hands had held me still while his mouth moved over mine.
