This is the ethics of Agota Kristof—of the double levels of alienation and solidarity. Already in our societies we are thrown into collectivities with unknown people; we need a radical form of alienation, a ruthless alienation founded on profound solidarity.

Jameson’s use of psychoanalysis and Lacan also sheds light into a very complicated matter. His insights are useful in articulating how, in communism, we will have fewer excuses for our unhappiness. As such, we are more susceptible to envy and other pathologies, opening up a completely new field of theory concerning communist pathologies.

The universal party form of social organizations can also be structured in military terms: each nation forms a division. But, as in the army, it is the central command or the Central Committee that runs the divisions, not vice versa, as is the case with NATO or UN. This division of nations into army brigades should not be seen as a form of federalism; the party form of social organization is unitary.

This form of social organization seems impossible to realize. Maybe it is. But we should always remember that partial emancipation (national, regional, and so on) is equally impossible. Without a global organized movement, revolution is simply unimaginable. If we fail in creating a strong international movement, the probable outcome is yet another world war—and the current conjuncture is certainly leading us toward that situation.
