With more mouths to feed, Skelton set out to expand his show, but the increased expenses led Brown and Williamson, the makers of Raleigh cigarettes, to withdraw its sponsorship. Fortunately, Proctor & Gamble were happy to replace Raleigh, and Tide detergent became Skelton’s new brand. More changes occurred the following year when the show moved from the NBC to the CBS radio family.
