CHAPTER 15

Alyssa

Adam leaves after his father calls for the third time. It must be important. I can tell by the tone of his father's voice. Euphoria passes and I'm left alone with my thoughts again. I lie there thinking about everything we just shared. Why did he do that? What was that look in his eyes? Was it lust or something else? I am angry with myself for allowing this to happen. How could I let my guard down like that? This isn't normal. We aren't even friends.

I sit up in bed not wanting to dwell any longer. I stand up and walk toward the bathroom, grabbing some toilet paper to clean myself off. I take a shower washing away the evidence of our lovemaking. I dry my hair and dress quickly getting ready for bed. Tomorrow is going to be a long day.

After putting on pyjamas, I crawl underneath the covers hoping to fall asleep. However, my mind won't shut itself off. I toss and turn unable to find peace. I stare up at the ceiling wondering what tomorrow holds. Now everyone knows I don't have my wolf. They all hate me now. There is no turning back. If only I had never told anyone. I would still be able to live my life without being judged. Maybe if I hadn't run away, things wouldn’t be so bad right now.

Tomorrow will come whether I want it to or not. I should try to sleep because I know I’ll be forced to go outside and greet the world once the sun comes up. I roll over and lay awake staring at the darkness above. My heart aches knowing that I've made a mistake. But then again maybe it wasn't my fault. Perhaps the whole thing happened for a reason. I promise I won't let Adam touch me again. He took advantage of me. And I'd rather die than give him another chance to hurt me.

My thoughts are interrupted when I hear a knock at my door. I jump out of bed startled. I rush to put on a pair of jeans and a tank top. When I open the door, Adam stands there looking tired.

"I couldn't sleep well. Alyssa, what happened between us, stays between us," he says sternly.

"What?" I say confused.

"You heard me. Nothing has changed. Don't tell anyone, ok?"

"So, what am I to you? A puppet? Adam, you used me and tossed me away like an old sock," I spit angrily.

"No, I didn't. You wanted it too. Remember how you almost begged me to fuck you."

He stares at me waiting for my response.

"Fine, whatever. Just stay away from me. Please, just leave me alone. I beg you," I plead.

"Don't worry, I'm leaving," he replies coldly.

"Goodnight, Adam." I slam the door behind him closing out the rest of the world.

The next morning I wake up early to get ready for work. I slip on a black shirt and blue skinny jeans. I brush my hair and tie it back in a ponytail.
