Chapter Eighteen

Gray couldn’t stop watching Skylar’s face as she looked around the amusement park. This section of the park was completely dedicated to a world imagined by a British author. The castle and surrounding town were such close replicas of the movie sets that Gray kept expecting to see the boy wizard himself walking around a corner.

Skylar stopped at a kiosk selling butterbeer and ordered two. Gray loved the stuff. It added a level to the entire experience of being in this replicated wizarding world.

“This shit is so good,” Skylar said after taking a long drink of the sweet, yellow liquid.

“I tried making it once,” Gray said after taking a sip. “I figured it was basic science. Mixing ingredients just like an experiment. But it wasn’t nearly as good.”

“It must be because of the atmosphere. I feel like I’m in a movie.”

She spun around just in time to catch an animatronic dragon breathe fire into the air. Skylar jumped up and down, laughing.

“That was amazing! They’ve literally thought of everything. I never want to leave.”

“Wait. There’s more. Let’s go this way. It’s the best ride in all of the park.”

Gray took her hand in his, and they walked through the park. Skylar didn’t know it yet, but there were about to receive some exceptional treatment from the park employees. He’d arranged everything to be special.

Skylar fit into his real world, into his life, no problem. Now he wanted to share this side of him with her.

The side that got excited that his favorite books had been brought to life. The part of him that screamed in roller coasters. He knew she’d fit right in here, too.

“Dr. Gray,” a young woman in a witch’s outfit intercepted them on their way to a long line, snaking up the entry of a wizarding bank. “If you and your guest would come with me.”

“What’s happening?” Skylar asked him on a whisper.

“You’ll see,” he answered.

“You keep saying that,” she said. “And it keeps getting better. Should I be scared?”

“Only if you don’t like heights.”

“Dude, we were just in a helicopter. If I was scared of heights, you’d already know.”

“Then, after you,” he gestured her forward with flourish.

He wouldn’t have dared to make the silly move with any other woman. But with Skylar, he felt like he could truly be himself. When she blushed, he felt his heart kick in his chest, and his wolf growled appreciatively. Yup, his mate was definitely the perfect woman for him.

“Um, Gray? How come we’re being ushered in? Don’t we have to wait in that crazy long line?”

He took her hand in his and brought it up to his lips for a quick kiss.

“We don’t need to wait in line, love.”

“You got fast passes or something?”

“Or something,” he said with a wink.

It was more than that. He had paid a hefty sum for the VIP treatment. No lines. No waiting. Just straight-up fun so they could maximize their time in the wizarding world section of the park.

“Please wait right here while the riders disembark.
