All memory gone,

The future feared,

The present viewed through misted glass,

Frustrated by incomprehension

And constant confusion

You snatch at thoughts, ideas

Before they disappear

Like butterflies gone behind a tree.

But I remember.

When I hold you,

When I inhale your essence

I remember.

I remember joy and sorrow

Anger and delight

Flown with us down the years.

The laughter, horror,

Pain and pride that built our past.

I have a million memories,

Enough for both of us.

And that will have to do.
