Parallels

Although the item to which the fragments were attached has not been identified, four serpent reliefs still adhered to sherds of the original object. None of the WT-13 serpent fragments appears to have been attached to the architectural models recovered during excavation and no stands were recognized in the ceramic assemblage. There are, however, numerous parallels to the winding serpent on ceramic models and stands from sites in Mesopotamia, Syria, Cisjordan and Crete.
