Chapter 12

Wes

Finn was a dead man. I had no doubt he’d been dancing with Audrey just to piss me off, but it worked. I was pissed. That was not how I wanted to approach Audrey after the way I left things Saturday night, and I sure as shit didn’t want her to look at me like I was just some idiot Neanderthal who wanted to club her over the head and drag her out of the bar. The fact that I’d flung her over my shoulder and carried her out of the bar was not helping my case.

As soon as we got outside, I set her to her feet. Dark gray clouds gathered over her head as she shoved me in the chest, sending a surge of her power through me that sparked the lightning in my hand. Her eyes were bright with anger, and if I wasn’t mistaken, a touch of arousal. I reminded myself it was just her magic turning her on.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” She pushed her hair out of her face, swatting at the loose strands. “Everyone in there saw my ice, by the way, so good going.”

“I don’t care if they saw your ice. Half them are here to see magic, and the other half better get used to it because they’re going to see a lot more of it soon enough.”

Her face screwed up in agitation, and goddamn it, I wanted to kiss her. Just touching her hand after days without contact nearly sent me over the edge, and it had nothing to do with the magic between us. That was all Audrey. She had no idea the kind of power she had over me. If she told me to light myself on fire, I’d reach for the nearest match.

“Stop looking at me like that. I’m mad at you.” She hugged her chest, pushing up those perfect tits. We weren’t even touching now, but her nipples poked through her shirt, hard enough to cut glass. Good to know she wasn’t completely immune to me outside of her magic, either.

My fingers itched to grab her, push her up against the wall, and bury my cock inside her until she made those soft little whimpers that let me know she was about to come. But I didn’t bring her out here to do any of that. “You can stay mad at me, but we’re still going to talk.”

“It’s been three days, Wes.” She shoved me again, but with a lot less heat behind it. The quick edge of her temper had started to cool, which wasn’t necessarily a relief. I knew just how long her anger could simmer at a low boil. “Where have you been?”

“I wanted to give you time.” A group of laughing tourists stumbled out of the bar. I shot them all death glares, which sobered a few of them up pretty quickly. Taking Audrey’s arm, I led her to the side of the building, to an enclosed walkway that opened to the beach on the other side.
