Raphael told me that, when I want to find him, I’ll just know how.

I never really paid much mind to that. Raphael’s offer—if you need us, find us—was something I decided to keep in my back pocket. Mainly because I wasn’t so sure I wanted to remind an archangel that I was part of a pack that kept his mate confined after she came to us for help, or that we used his affection for his ghostling to keep him from using his celestial powers against us.

But a Para’s word is their bond, so if he said he owed me, he did. So what if that’s how I interpreted it? At the very least, I had an open invitation to find him.

Too bad that’s easier said than done.

Fred is no help. Probably because he’s feeling a lot worse than he’ll ever let on, at first he refuses to go to any healer. Then, when I mention it’s the archangel, Raphael, who I’m hoping to bring him to, he reluctantly agrees to go. I hope that means that he knows where to find the archangel—especially since he seems to know where most other celestials live on the mortal plane, except for Gareth—but he has the same kind of cryptic answer: search for someone like me.

Sure. Why not?

I can’t even begin to think about how to do that. More frustrating is how I’m supposed to be thing amazingly powerful Nephilim, a paranormal that was such a big threat, the Creator Himself established a curse of His own—the curse of the Othersiders—to make sure that his Fallen didn’t create anymore with humans.

So far, my runes destroy my wardrobe, burn the crap out of my mate, and turn me into a glowing nightlight—and that’s when I’m not turning myself into a whirling, force of nature. I got super strength that only really helps me when it comes to sweeping under my table and, now, kicking hellhounds out of my way.

And I can create portals to anywhere I want, except the one place I miss most of all: home.

With that thought, I finally realize why everyone seems to think finding another celestial as a Nephilim is so easy. It’s probably my self-preservation instincts kicking in, trying to stay away from the type of Para who would consider my kind an abomination, but shouldn’t that mean it works in reverse.

Magic is easy, after all.

Want something. Take it.

I want to find Raphael. Using my Nephilim magic to create a glowing blue portal, I do exactly what Grey did when she used all of her magic reserves to find help for her archangel.

I tell it to bring me, Drew, and Fred somewhere that can help us.

And it does.
