CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT

T oronto was moving back then. It was clean, tidy and everyone was cool. I felt the love from my Aunt and cousins, like that’s where I was supposed to live. The summers were long and nice which was perfect for me and there was always something to do. We would take out the bikes and go riding over G-Ross Park if Aunt hadn’t planned something for us to do. G-Ross Park was just across the road from Aunt’s yard, full with windy dirt track hills. These dirt tracks were crazy to ride up, then race down, but you had to be careful, you could get fucked up on them hills. We’d been racing up and down all day, there was this one dirt track that me and Andrew wanted to handle better. It was a serious hill and speeding down this one, you had to be a serious rider. We speeding all now, just about to take a sharp right but I didn’t get low enough. I was a G on a bike tru my Dad’s teaching methods, so I thought I could manage that corner at that speed, but I couldn’t. I got thrown into the trees. I was lucky cause the trees broke my fall! It hurt my pride more than anything, but I got a wet (cut) too. As I walked the bike back to Aunt's looking at my wet, I thought I’m not telling the man dem I fell off a fucking bike.

Science Museum was another must, it seemed like in a summer holiday we had to do that as part of our family bonding. I remember none of us wanted to go with Aunt on this particular day, but tru she had arranged it already, we were going. It was downtown and Aunt was driving, so it weren’t a big deal. It’s just that there was bare tings to do just outside Aunt's yard, or even in the yard. Anyway, their Science Museum weren't shit, so man was enjoying the day.

I didn’t pay it any attention at first, when, a few hours in I heard someone shout,‘Chris!’ I'm in Canada…who the fuck would I know here? I thought . I heard, ‘Chris, is that you?’

I turned round to see Josh from school staring at me. I couldn’t believe it: Josh, in the Canadian Science Museum same time as me. My Aunt and cousins were shocked as well, but being as cool as I thought I was, I played like it was nothing as we talked for a while. He had left my school in the second year so I hadn’t seen him in about two years. The world is small I thought and trust me it was gonna get smaller.

While I was there I visited The CN tower, I watched an American football game in the only opening dome (at that time) in the world. And a few other things, but just chilling for the summer in Canada was massive. I used to think six weeks, that’s a nice holiday, but it always went so quick.
