ENVISION THEIR GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY

What will your marriage look like in fifty years?

This is a question most newlyweds never consider. But if they did, it just might help them chart their course to that golden anniversary with a lot more intention. So why not pose the question to your mentorees?

What will you reminisce about on your fiftieth wedding anniversary? Can you picture your future together? Encourage them to be specific. Where will they live and what will they be doing? What kinds of memories will they treasure most?

We know some mentors who give their mentorees a special remembrance after a session involving this question. It’s nothing fancy, maybe just a personal card with a verse inscribed in it. Perhaps Proverbs 23:18: “There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.” Or Proverbs 24:3–4: “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.”
