Find a dead animal or insect and investigate clues as to how it died.

INVESTIGATE… THE WEATHER

The natural world can give us important clues as to what the weather is going to be like. But before you rely too heavily on what the cows or birds are telling us, do some investigating:

Cows lying down – do they do this before it’s going to rain?

Cows lying together – does this mean bad weather is on the way?

Pine cones – do they open when the air is dry and close when the air is humid?

Do birds go quiet just before it rains?

Are there lots of birds on the power lines? What might this mean?

‘Flowers smell best just before rain.’ Is this proverb accurate?

Study the nature in your local area carefully and see if you can come up with some of your own predictors.
