Moses: “Let my people go!”

Pharaoh: “No!”

Moses: “Then deal with this plague.”

Pharaoh: “My bad. You can go.”

Moses: “Okay, the plague is gone.”

Pharaoh: “Wait, I changed my mind.”

The second plague consisted of God sending a swarm of frogs from the Nile River. Frogs were everywhere! They were in every home. They were in every room. They were in every bed. They were in every oven. They were in every bowl. They were on every person.

My son, Ashton, has a frog named Zipper. Zipper peed on me last week while Ashton was holding him. In fact, he has peed every single time someone has held him during the three weeks we’ve had him. One frog is enough. I cannot imagine having frogs everywhere in our house. I certainly cannot imagine having them swarming our city.

Egypt was infested with frogs! I have no doubt that it was so bad that a nasty stench permeated the entire nation. Pharaoh summoned Moses to find relief, but when Moses asked, “When do you want me to make it stop? When do you want me to get rid of the frogs?” Pharaoh gave an answer that must have puzzled Moses and still has people scratching their heads today.

“Tomorrow.”[106]

Not “right now.”

Not “immediately.”

Not “five minutes ago.”

Tomorrow.

How arrogant is that? How prideful? How callous do you have to be to make your people live in that mess for another day? The plague could have been stopped in an instant. But no.
