Before the interview, phone the company you have the interview with and speak to your possible new manager/supervisor. This takes some guts to do but just get on with it. You may feel you’ve mumbled your way through but it’s better than not phoning. Ask them details about the job. This will show them that you are pro-active and get you known at the company. Keep it short though, don’t rabbit on, they will probably be very busy if they have to employ more people.

Show enthusiasm and interest in the company. Get all the background that you can from the company website. The interviewer may ask if you have done this, if you have not, you may be a non-starter. If the interview seems to have gone well, ask if you can have a look around the company.
