November 16 - Friday

Another day, another crazy kiss. This one courtesy of the Lollypop Man. You know, the stop/go sign holder in the road repairs crew. He has a growing mo - at the bristly stage by the look of it - each hair stabbing straight out at me. Or does he shave it like that?

He makes no attempt at hiding the fact that the outdoor staff laugh at me. “I’m here for the girl who hates moustaches.”

There’s laughter in the office and everyone turns and points at me. No hiding in this place.

“That’s me, overcoming the phobia.” There’s no point pretending. I reckon you have to meet this stuff head on.

“Then here, have a good go at me and my Lady Tickler.”

Lady Tickler? Oh, heaven help me.

He stands legs apart, hands on hips and head tipped forwards waiting for my kiss. From his stance you’d think he’s a stud but he’s close to sixty, rotund, red-faced and I doubt he was a stud in his youth. He licks his lips.

Stomach churning, I bravely smile and make my move to kiss him. It’s got to be fast or I’ll be bristled out.

He grabs my shoulders and kisses me - not hard or rough or passionately, just a brush - but then he rubs that god-awful bristle-brush across my cheeks and mouth. Squirming and wriggling doesn’t lessen his hold. The cheering in the background only spurs him on.

Finally, when my skin’s on fire, he lets me go and triumphantly leaves the office. Movember cannot end soon enough.
