That’s Funny
Laughing with your spouse is fun. Laughing at your spouse is not. Do you laugh together? Laughter knits a couple together in a unique way. It does something for a marriage that nothing else quite does. I try to make Nancy laugh every day. I love to see and hear her laugh. Her laugh makes me laugh. Laughter truly is a great medicine. There are a lot of things I love about being married as long as we have, and one of them is the history of laughter together. Funny things that happened years ago can still bring laughter when one of us brings the memories to mind. There are also those things we laugh about that no one else would ever get. When it was time to go pick up the order, Nancy volunteered to go while Tommy and I were in a hot battle on Xbox One. My phone rang about fifteen minutes later, and I could tell from the sound of her voice that Nancy was a little frustrated. “What number did you put the order under? They can’t find it.” Our restaurant uses cell phone numbers to identify orders while the other restaurant, where our order was waiting for her, uses last names. I said, “You are at the wrong restaurant.” After we hung up, I told Tommy what had happened, and the two of us were rolling on the floor with laughter. When Nancy finally got home with the order, neither of us said a thing. A couple of days later, Nancy and I were driving somewhere and I finally brought it up. At first, I thought
