◆ AIS Receiver only

It is possible to get AIS information without transmitting any information yourself. The advantage of this is that the equipment is a lot less expensive but has the great disadvantage that whilst you can see others, they cannot see you. A VHF antenna and a GPS input is required together with the instrument and you are in business. The mock radar type display puts you in the centre of the screen; the geographical position of other craft is taken from the GPS and then displayed.
