Picking your point of view

There are so many variations of the nuances that go into every story that it would be impossible for us to tell you in which situation you should choose which POV. What goes into the choice is often personal. But here are some general situations in which the choice becomes more transparent.

Are you an in-your-face type of writer? Do you know your main character as well as you know yourself? If so, the first-person POV might be for you. Just know that its limitations are the same facing us real-life characters: When writing about the other characters besides the I character, you can only reveal their motives, thoughts, and feelings through dialogue. You get to play God, but only with half a deck of cards.
