Chapter Nineteen

I’ve been in Oregon for precisely a month as I looked at the calendar. October twenty-fifth, I shook my head and found myself wondering where all the time had gone. It hadn’t felt that long at all. The last few weeks had been utter chaos after I had told Aiden about my past. He wanted to go straight to Idaho and burn it to the ground.

The Alpha, however, put his extermination plans to a halt, and told him he couldn’t just take down a pack the way he planned on doing it. I guessed Aiden’s plan was to get all his best fighters and storm Idaho, which obviously was a bad idea but through his rage he didn’t see that.

I had to sit down with the Alpha and Luna and talk them through my life, Aiden sat in and listened and he got just as angry as the first time, even going as far as breaking one of his mom’s vases, which she was not pleased about.

Everyone knew now, including the pack. People stared at me with wide eyes or looks of pity at school and I did my best to just not look in their direction. Katherine had left me alone for a while which was nice and according to Hannah she hadn’t spoken to her either. Either Katherine had grown a conscience or something was definitely up.

Hannah and I had been working more on the magic I had, which was fun when it was controllable. I had managed to make most of the stuff we were working on explode. I had worked out though to distinguish between the heat levels in my eyes to know when something was close to being obliterated.

Things had been so crazy that I hadn’t even addressed the other problem in my life and the crumpled up piece of paper that housed my father’s details still sat on my night stand, glaring at me and burning a hole through the wood.

“Just call the number!” Grace was frustrated with how long it had taken me. The Luna had been kind, not wanting to push it but I knew the Alpha wanted me to call him as well and I understood why. We had no idea what I really was and I guess it made him nervous.

“Every time I try - I just can’t press the call button.”

“You’re going to have to eventually and when you do it will be one less thing off your plate and a whole brand new perspective.” Lucy flopped down on Grace’s bed. “I wish all I had to worry about was a father I never knew of.”

“Geoff still pissy you’re going to College next year?” Hannah asked gently as she rubbed Lucy’s shoulder.

“Yep. But I don’t care, he got to go and have his fun and so can I. I’m not even leaving the State for crying out loud. I told him I was never going to take a back seat in our relationship. I’m not a wifey and I’m not doing the kids thing until I know I’m ready.
