I woke up with Ace nowhere in sight. Right away, fear gripped my throat. Did he leave? Had Ace finally decided he didn't want this and took off?

I stopped short as my wolf told me to calm the hell down. There. I could hear Ace. I walked out of my room and downstairs where my pack was in the living room. All of the house omegas sat around playing with the pups. I stopped short when I saw Ace.

He sat on the couch with little Riley, Leo and Jacob's son, in his arms. The boy smiled up at him, grabbing for his face while Ace made faces at him. Ace went cross-eyed and stuck out his tongue, sending Riley into a fit of giggles.

My heart squeezed. This is what I wanted with my mate. That connection, that sweetness. Ace put on such a show of being distant, but seeing him with the pups made me realize that he was much sweeter than he liked to pretend to be. And maybe on some level, he wanted kids too. Maybe settling down wasn’t completely out of the question.

Our eyes met, and his cheeks pinked before he looked down at Riley once more. And then right back up at me. There was a longing in his eyes. For the first time I was hit with the feeling that maybe this was what Ace wanted too. Maybe he was struggling right now, but there was an urge there and it was the same as mine. I prayed to the Goddess that soon he would want to be with me officially. That we could have more than passionate sex and stolen moments.

I wanted to be Ace's everything.
