My first meeting with Amit in the mid-1980s, during my final interview with HCL, is still vivid in my mind. It was in Arjun’s room, in Nehru Place, and there were a lot of people in the room of whom I can only remember Arjun, Dr Koreth, and this perfectly dressed person Amit. The interview was not too long, Arjun asked some questions on my background and Amit, with a smile explained to me, very articulately, HCL’s vision, and if I wanted to be a part of this dream. Somehow, even at that time one never doubted Amit, and I joined HCL that day.

Putting things across transparently helps people in making important decisions and makes them feel a part of it instantly. Amit had this innate quality of telling every detail with great conviction that would convince even a stranger.
