At the end of the service that Sunday, Aaron approached Bonnie, April, and Brad about helping at the couples banquet, which would be held in just two weeks.

“I could sure use your help if you’re available. I need people to set up tables; in the kitchen, cooking and doing dishes; serving, and then taking down tables and cleaning up afterwards. Can I count on your help?”

“What day is it again?” April asked.

“It’s the Saturday evening after Valentine’s Day. We’ll need to do setup at four. Then the cook will need help in the kitchen, and we start serving at six, and then cleanup after eight. You’ll get a free meal, and I hear it’s pretty good. So what do you think?” Aaron asked again.

“I’m willing to help,” volunteered April.

“Sure, me too!” Bonnie chimed in. “I’m not doing anything that day anyway. We might as well make it special for the married couples. They deserve a nice evening out.”

“Yah, count me in too,” Brad agreed. He was willing to do anything to spend time with Bonnie. He was still indecisive about what would be appropriate to get Bonnie for Valentine’s Day. He wanted to get her something that would let her know how much she meant to him. He thought a lot of her, and he thought she liked him too, but still kept him at arm’s length. He knew it had something to do with her relationship with God. But he was going to church, reading and studying the Bible, and trying to stay within the boundaries she had set. What more did she want?
