One more thing about Trump and religion: he did do one positive thing in this arena. He ruined the phrase âthoughts and prayersâ forever. Of course, the problem with âthoughts and prayersâ has always been that thoughts are the opposite of prayers: one is from the Enlightenment, and one is from The Exorcist. But it wasnât until Trump tweeted his âthoughts and prayersâ after the Parkland shooting and one of the survivors tweeted back, âI donât want you condolences you fucking piece of shit⦠prayers wonât fix this,â that prayer officially became an eye-roll.
Yes, America is finally getting it: prayer doesnât work, because if it did, every drug test would come back clean and thereâd be no need for the morning-after pill.
