Is it easy to find Western food? Are there Western restaurants? Western food in supermarkets?

It’s easy to find Western food in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City — particularly the latter. There are many Western restaurants, from fast food to upscale bistros. You’ll also find a wide range of international cuisines, from Indian to Turkish.

Large supermarkets carry a decent range of Western foods, although availability of certain items (cheese and wine, for example) can vary depending on import schedules. There are also grocery stores specifically geared toward selling imported Western food.

That being said, it’s substantially more expensive than local products, and the restaurant quality, although there are exceptions, is usually not as good as in the West.
