Honey laughed. “Don’t mind him, this is my son. His name is Don Ho and music is his obsession.”

“How old are you, Don?” I asked.

“Don!” Honey’s warning voice stopped the kid in his tracks.

I however had heard enough. I was glad I wasn’t driving.

“Guess we should go,” Eugene said, looking disappointed.

I saw him swallow the last of his drink. I had no idea what he’d had, but my fog cutter dimmed my lights. All the way to Chinatown, I slept, thinking about Jason Qui and wishing I wasn’t so damned excited about seeing him again.
