Chapter Sixteen
The team was in Russia again, on the roof waiting for extraction. They had killed four more key players in the human trafficking ring and it had gone smoothly. The choppers arrived and Tyler pulled Alex up and Vince grabbed Mason.
âWe are going to Andreiâs. He has invited us for dinner.â Lorenzo was yelling over the chopperâs noise.
They reunited with the rest of the team and arrived at Andreiâs mansion quickly. Andrei and his men were waiting for them in the dining hall.
Vince was talking as he walked in with Dylan. His head lifted and as soon as he and Andrei locked eyes, Vince knew this was a bad idea. He had only been a teenager, but he would never forget those eyes.
âYou!â
Guns flew out from every direction and the men were all trying to figure out what the fuck was going on.
âI know those eyes! Those are the eyes of death!â Andrei was pointing at Vince.
Dylan looked at Vince and tried to figure out what was going on.
âI allowed you to live.â Vince said it quietly.
âYou killed my father!â
Dylanâs eyes went wide; Andreiâs men had their guns trained on Vince. Dylan jumped in front of him and put his arms around his neck.
âDonât hurt him!â
âDylan! That man is a monster!â Andrei came closer.
âDylan, get away from him!â Alex shouted.
âI can see you want me dead. I knew this day would come.â Vince was trying to remove Dylan from his neck.
âNo, no, no!â Dylan held on.
âRemove Mr. McAllister.â Andrei ordered his men.
Several of Andreiâs men approached Vince and tried to wrestle Dylan away with force. Dylanâs team moved forward, guns trained on Andrei.
Vince pulled his gun and his eyes blazed black and bright as obsidian. And just as hard and emotionless.
âDonât touch him.â Vince looked down at Dylan. âYou have to let go now.â
âNo! Tell him why, Vince! Tell him why you killed his father, please! He deserved it!â Dylan was crying now.
Vince stroked his face. âThere is no excuse that will make him feel better. A life is a life.â Vince tried to extract Dylan from his neck. âDylan, please.â
âNo! I wonât let them hurt you!â Dylan wrapped his legs around Vinceâs hips. He turned his angry, tear-filled eyes on Andrei. âYour father killed his entire family!â
âThat is a lie!â Andrei hissed.
âAs much as I would like for us to keep our friendship, Andrei, I cannot allow you to execute Mr. Markov.â Damon Santorno motioned his men to come forward.
Justin, Roman, and Dimitri closed in on Andrei when the man looked at Vince.
Andrei put his hand up. âMarkov?â
His men stood down. Andrei eyed them and spoke in Russian. They returned to the table and Andrei moved closer to Vince. Dylan still clung to him like a protective koala.
âI like you â donât make me shoot you, Andrei.â Tyler was standing to the left of Vince.
Andrei looked at Dylan. He had a vice grip on Vince, and he was crying hysterically.
âI am not going to hurt him, Dylan.â Andrei eyed Vince.
