Chapter Sixteen

“Come take a walk with me,” My father said as I finally turned to get a look at him. His stark green eyes watched my moves like a hawk, his white wings folded behind him. Dark hair and pale skin clashed, but looked well on him. I could see the resemblance between us and I felt the tears building in my eyes

He gestured for me to come closer and I walked over to him as he fell into step with me and we made our way outside. Once we were away from the others, the tears that I had held back finally fell.

“Pull yourself together, my child. That is no way for a Guardian to behave. You have a strength inside you. You just need to look.” He finally spoke, breaking the silence that fell as we stopped in front of a tree. Everything finally boiled over and it came out like word vomit.

“How could you have left me to those monsters? What kind of father does that? What do you want from me? And what the hell is a Guardian? I have no clue what is going on here, I am supposed to be dead. Everyone just keeps throwing more and more at me so I am sorry if I am not acting how you think I should but it's been a long day, week, year, who the fuck knows how long I have been here now. Oh, and where is Gabriel, can he come be with me? I like him.” Why was everything so confusing? I should have just died like I was supposed to. It seemed like everyone wanted something from me and I didn’t know what that was. As if everyone but me was in on an inside joke. It was getting old and I was over it. My father stood motionless in front of me just staring back at me which did nothing to calm me down.

"Don't just stand there like a fucking statue. Answer me. Wait, can you help me? Do you know a way out of here? I can't stay here; you must help me please." I knew I must sound crazy and like a complete bitch but I couldn’t stay here. Ezekiel had made it clear that he didn’t want me here either. All I wanted was to live and be free. It was all I had ever wanted. A gentle touch on my arm pulled me out of my panic, drawing my attention back to my father.

"We don't have much time. You are being thrown into the world of Guardians when it is headed to turmoil. There is so much that I need to tell you, so much that I want to know. For now, we will start here, what you are about to hear will shock you, and more than likely, you will hate me and everything we stand for but you need to know. The fastest and safest way for me to tell you all of this is telepathically, so please don't move and try not to think too much or it won't work.
