As I was running some errands, a jewelry store catches my attention and I am struck with a thought, I have to get my girl something that shows her how much I love her. I enter the store and the beautiful white marble shelves catch my eye with diamond rings, bracelets and necklaces of every size and color. I am considering what to get her and decide to call my sister.

“Hello,” she answers.

“Hi Celia,” I say a little nervous.

“Jesse! My big brother! How are you doing? How’s Kaylee,” she asks.

“We’re very good. Celia, I need your help. I am standing in a jewelry store and I want to get Kaylee something that shows how much I love her and I don’t know what to buy. What do you suggest,” I ask as I look over the selections.

“Well, how about a charm bracelet,” she suggests.

“Yes, that’s perfect! Thanks sis!”

“You’re welcome. Let me know what you pick out and what she thinks.”

“I will,” I promise and we hang up.

I walk closer to the counter and a beautiful white gold charm bracelet catches my eye. It would fit perfectly around her delicate wrist. I ask for the clerk to show me the charms that could go with the charm bracelet and I choose three. One charm is the standard medical symbol to symbolize where we met, the second one is an ‘I love you’ heart locket, and the last one is a cherub charm which means that we fell in love unexpectedly. She’s going to love it!

After paying for my purchases, I head out with a huge smile on my face.

I am sitting in front of the computer reading some emails when my phone lights up with a text message from dad.

Hi my beautiful princess! I was wondering, how about we go for some ice cream tonight at the Navy Pier on the boardwalk around six forty five? Let me know! I love you my daughter! Dad

‘Aww I love you dad but I don’t know what to do, I’m torn between you and Jesse. If I go it might piss Jesse off, and at this point I don’t even know how he’ll react. He’s overprotective, but I so want the father/daughter relationship. I bet if mom was here she would be so happy. What should I do? I love you both so much. Maybe a hot shower will calm me down.

As I walk into the house, Kaylee’s phone rings. I head towards the living room where the persistent ringing sound of her cellphone screams, but before I pick up the phone, I notice the screen says it’s an unknown number. ‘Who could this be,’ I wonder, and answer to see who it is. “Hello,” I say as I answer her phone.

‘Why is a man answering my daughter’s phone? Who is he? I want to protect my daughter so I won’t say anything and hang up.’

‘That’s weird, no one was there,’ I think as I hang up.
