Roosevelt Portrait and the Ex-Lax Thermometer

Where: Canton Classic Car Museum, Canton

Why: Marshall Belden Sr. established this homage to all things automotive in 1978, and the museum’s collection contains numerous cars and pieces of car memorabilia. But what’s most unique about the museum are its non-car-related items. Take the typing paper portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt, for example. An inmate at the Ohio Penitentiary used a typewriter to create the portrait in 1941.

There’s also that Ex-Lax Thermometer . . . it’s just what it sounds like. Its round face is about the size of a wall clock, and it boasts the slogan “Keep regular with Ex-Lax.”
