âThis meal is fantastic, Leesa,â Dagger said as he shoveled another forkful in his mouth.
âThank Rebel. Most of this came from her garden.â
âOur garden. Itâs the packâs garden and everyone helps.â Rebel clarified.
âYes, but letâs be honest for a minute shall we. We all know that you carry the brunt of the work,â Linley said, smiling at Rebel who looked down at her plate, at a loss for words which was unlike her. It also meant she missed the look Draven was giving her.
âGood food, good packmates, what else could a man want?â Blade said, raising his beer in a toast.
Multiple conversations were happening at the same time around the table and Syn sat back, watching and listening. Leesa had joined them tonight and was currently engrossed in conversation with Sofia. Blade and Draven were having a side conversation about humans covering up their scent and what that would take. Her wolf was antsy tonight, and she began to daydream about running through the garden, following Blade this time instead of Rebel.
âHey, gorgeous,â Bladeâs hand caressed her face, startling her back to reality. Sheâd just gotten to the naughty part, too, âyou need to eat. I have plans for us tonight,â he gave her a wink.
Nodding, she found that she was more tired than she realized. She ate her food slowly and after a few more bites, Bladeâs hand settled on her thigh, giving her gentle squeezes. When everyone was done eating, they moved to the sitting room. Everyone had a beer, even Syn. As she walked into the room, she looked for her mate who was seated in one of the chairs next to the couch. Blade motioned for her to come and patted his thigh. Walking towards him, her heart raced as she started to sit and his arm slid around her, pulling her to him.
âCanât you two keep your hands to yourselves for a few hours?â Dagger said, scoffing at their public display of affection.
âJealous?â Blade asked.
âHell no. One woman for eternity. No thanks. I like â variety.â Dagger enunciated the last word.
âYouâre such a pig,â Rebel said, making pig noises at her brother.
âWith a woman like me, you only need one, trust me,â Syn said with a grin.
âSheâs right. This wonderful woman right here is all that I want or need. Youâll find your mate one day and then youâll understand.â Blade agreed.
âDoubt it, man.â
âI donât want to burst your bubble, but I agree with him. Whatever the two of you have is special for sure, but not everyone is obsessed with their mate.â Draven said and Syn could see the spark of life die a little inside of Rebel.
âNot obsessed,â Syn said as she cocked her head to the side thinking, âconsumed is a better way of putting it.â
âTheyâre newly mated. Give it some time. Remember how we were?â Sofia asked Breaker. âThose first few weeks to months are the most consuming and then things settle down and you find your routine.â
âThat doesnât sound like fun,â Syn replied curling her nose up.
