Dearest Dad -

Time to write again, I reckon. Nothing much has happened. I haven’t been off the base even for 11 days. Somewhere around that, anyway.

Haven’t heard from Bull Dunham, and I wrote right after he left the last time. Rat!

So Neuman & Price are gone again. I guess Dick was home once before, but Price wasn’t.

Marvin must be in pretty sad shape if he’s got an infected bladder. I don’t envy him.

McTavey wrote again, and now he has 10 missions in. Said he was in on the invasion of southern France. Dropped plenty of stuff on em.

I was supposed to fly last nite, but it didn’t appear on the bulletin board. Now the commander didn’t believe me and another guy, so we’re on alert for a week whether we fly or not. That means we go to the line and fly if we’re scheduled or not every other nite and stay till the planes are off the ground until we’re sure they don’t need an engineer. It’s only every other nite, so only four nites at the most. Not too bad. They had to cancel my flight as they only had one engineer and there was two of us missing. Well, they’ve got two extra ones on alert now for a while.

Tomorrow we have ditching. Go down to the water in trunks and practice bailing out of the body of a B-25. A wet job. I never had that before, so it’ll be a new one to me.

Working you hard, hey? Well it’s to be expected if you’re short- handed. Always goes that way.

Love - Your “best” son Mel L. & K. xxxxx
