"Wow." Eris sounded impressed. "You actually sounded like someone of authority just then."

Eva did her best to ignore the others. She had a single-minded goal. She needed that trident, but for a reason she couldn't quite explain. She just had a feeling the trident would make everything easier. Admitting only to herself, she selfishly wanted to hold it, too. Her fingers itched with the desire to touch it.

"Here." Poseidon reluctantly handed it over to Eva, who took it readily. "You know what’s at stake. Be careful with it."

Eva didn't want to remark on how heavy it was, so she simply took the trident holding it with both hands. She could practically feel the power running through it. "How does it work?"

Poseidon shrugged. "I dunno. It always just does what I want it to. I've always assumed it's because I'm awesome. But you never know."

Ataro pushed her glasses up on her nose. "You're kidding right? You don't actually think that's why it works, do you?"

Poseidon shot her a cocky smirk. "You'll never know."

Eva laughed as Ataro crossed her arms and rolled her eyes at him. "Actually I do know how it works. Anyway I wanted to see if you knew, or if you'd just been faking it all these years."

Poseidon flushed lightly, and Eva was enthralled by the banter between the two of them. Eris and Persephone came up beside her and Persephone tried to touch the trident. Eva hissed and pulled it away.

"Mine."

Persephone pouted. "I wanna touch it."

"Get your own." Eva pulled it just out of the other woman's reach. "Doesn't your husband have one?"

"Yeah," Persephone said despondently. "His only has two prongs though. I want to touch the trident."

"Too bad. This one's mine."

While Poseidon and Ataro silently faced off, Eva and Persephone had a tug-o-war with the trident. Neither wanted to let go of their prize. Tired of playing, Eva poked Persephone hard in the middle of the forehead, laughing when the other woman let go and gasped almost falling down.

"If you two are done, we have things to discuss." Ataro crossed her arms.

Eva grimaced. "Sorry." She didn't mean it though. "We really didn't mean to ignore you."

"Yeah they did." Ataro turned back to Poseidon. "So is there a reason why you're standing here still? You gave us your trident. You should probably go, now."

The way she glared at him, had Eva and Persephone both bent over with peals of laughter.

"What did I miss?" Eris eyed both of them closely before turning to Poseidon and Ataro, who were still standing toe-to-toe in a standoff. "Oh, Poseidon, you should just give up. You're not going to win against her. Ataro deals with Aphrodite on a regular basis, and she's got a one-year-old. You're nothing compared to either of them."

Eva nodded in agreement. She was thankful that she didn't have to deal with Aphrodite all the time. She honestly didn’t think she’d be able to survive it.

"I'm done," Poseidon sniffed. "So, before that happens I want to see what you know about my trident and how it works.
