CHAPTER 11
ENEMIES IN CONGRESS
FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS AFTER the Clinton team came up with the fake collusion narrative, Republicans in the House of Representatives conducted hearings on Russia. They interviewed everyone who was even tangentially involved in the Trump campaign—from the lowest of the low-level campaign staff to the friends and family of the candidate himself, looking for evidence of any ties to Russia at all. By April of 2018, they had found absolutely nothing, and there was only one witness left to interview: Corey.
After testifying once for eight hours, he finally agreed to come in again and answer questions before the committee. He began the interview by saying that he would only answer “relevant” questions. But this didn’t stop the panel from hounding him for information about everything they could think of. The questions went on for hours before Corey finally decided things had gone on long enough. After repeating several times that he wouldn’t be answering questions on what happened after he left the campaign, Corey delivered a somewhat blunt message, which made a few headlines: “I’m not answering any of your fucking questions about what happened after I left,” he said.
Since then, they haven’t called him back to testify. But Democrats in Congress have dragged many people in who aren’t as plainspoken as Corey, torturing them for hours with questions about Russia and their fake collusion story. They have also continued to block every policy that Donald Trump puts forward, and to attack the president at every opportunity. Enemies of Trump have all but taken over Congress, and they present an enormous danger to the America First agenda.
