Chapter 34: Badger Kai

Diamond in the Sky arrived shortly after I’d finished my meal. She was going to escort me to the training grounds. Badgelor decided to stay behind, relishing the warmth of the cottage fireplace.

The elf maiden had changed her clothing slightly. The first thing she did upon arriving was attempt to attach a small chain to my cuff. It was, by all accounts, a finely made chain. I still didn’t like it. Diamond in the Sky was observant enough to recognize the look I was giving her.

“Twinkle said you might not like it,” she stated in a comforting tone. “He doesn’t necessarily like it, either, but the king made a rule. If you want to get to the training field, you’ll need to wear it.”

“Are you sure there is no other way I can learn to be a Monk?” I questioned Shart.

“Furmal. . .formal. . .you need formal training at a Monk Academy to learn a Trainee Stance,” said the demon drunkenly. It seemed he had returned to his favorite bar in my mind.

Sighing, I allowed Diamond in the Sky to clip the chain to my cuff. Grinning, she took the end of the leash and wrapped it around her wrist. She gave it a tug, but my arm didn’t move. She tugged harder, and my arm still didn’t move. However, I did notice a dull pain in my forearm.
