1 large loaf Italian country white bread

Olive oil

4 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed

Heat the grill or preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Slice bread ½-inch thick and grill both sides until golden and toasty, being careful not to burn. If using oven, spread slices on baking sheet and bake about 4 minutes per side. Brush warm bread with olive oil on one side and then gently rub that side with garlic. Do not overdo it or the bread will taste bitter.

Serves 4.
