Chapter Six

We did see. We saw Ainsley kick my ass in Candy Land, Chutes & Ladders, Hi Ho Cherry O, Hungry, Hungry Hippo, and Sorry. Embarrassed as fuck, my sorry ass came up with the genius strategy to teach her something new so I could finally win. And she still beat me. Catching onto Uno in one round – disability be damned, this kid is smart. Best part is I loved every fucking minute of it. Even more than Corinne, I think.

Because after four nights, six games, three meltdowns – that I'm finally starting to figure out how to not cause or freak out too bad when I'm not the cause – and two hot as fuck make out sessions with my woman, I finally figure out a way to get her alone so I can fuck her properly.

With my lips dragging down her throat, I whisper against her damp skin as not to wake Ainsley crashed out in her bedroom. “Tomorrow afternoon, I need your help with a unique project.”

“What kind of project?”

“It’s very special and very important...” With her distracted, I yank up the hem of her tee-shirt and finally get to feel her intimate skin under my fingers. Jesus. She’s as soft and silky as I imagined. “…and you’re the only person who can help me with it. The only person I want to help me with it.”

“I’ll have to check with my boss.”

All of my effort is needed to keep from chuckling at her sincere sentiment. She’s not playing along with me – she really thinks Dan's approval is necessary. “I’m pretty sure he’ll agree, and if he doesn’t, I’ll fire him.”

“Steele!”

Damn it. All the lust when she moaned my name earlier is gone. Vanished with the threat to her manager. “I’m kidding.”

I lick along her clavicle, tasting her pure essence. Just her, mixed with a light scent of soap, since she can't afford fancy lotions or perfumes. Not yet, anyway. God, I'm going to fucking love spoiling her. “No one's getting fired. You’re just getting fucked."

She stiffens against me. Already denying what we both want. "I'm sorry, but I can't take off to ... have sex with you."

So cute when she whispers. The embarrassment is real. Someday, I'll have to get her to say fuck. Hopefully, she'll scream the word when I'm buried deep inside her.

"I only have one week of vacation left, and I need it for Ainsley's appointments."

Another reason I want to pamper her. She's probably not done anything fun for fun's sake since her daughter was born. "It's not vacation. It's approved time off without pay because you'll be working directly for me on my payroll."

"Well great. Now I feel like a prostitute."

She's finally kidding, but I don't like it. Not finding her comment funny at all, I stare her down. Harsher than I should, but I can't help myself. "It's not harassment, and you're not a hooker. I just want to be alone with you. I want to have you all to myself for a few hours.
