Chuck couldn’t believe what he’d just been told on the phone. He and the others had suspected that Shelby harbored some diluted wolf blood in her, but this was just crazy! Still shaking his head in disbelief, Chuck started out at a slow jog and then picked up speed as he moved deeper into the woods surrounding their settlement. He angled off to the east where Con and Ty were currently situated. Both men had gone out after lunch with some of the Rycroft wolves to give them the lay of the land.

So far there hadn’t been any issues, but Chuck knew it was only a matter of time until tempers flared. The Rycroft wolves were young, some still teenagers, and they were now being given orders by an Alpha from a different pack. That would be hard for any werewolf to swallow but for young kids? It was a recipe for disaster.

But Chuck understood why Justice Rycroft had sent them out here. He was proving a point and teaching them a lesson. Although loyalty to a pack was paramount, loyalty to the species was even more important. They all needed to work together to protect their families and loved ones.

A quiver of recognition buzzed in his chest. He could feel Con and Ty not far from him. Farther away and fainter were the hums of energy from two other werewolves. They weren’t part of his pack, so he couldn’t sense who was who. That was a perk only fellow pack members shared.

Con acknowledged him with a nod of his head. Arms crossed, the Alpha stood on a jutting chunk of limestone that gave him a good view of the wooded property that sloped down below them. They were only a few miles from the county line and near the place where the human hunters had first breeched yesterday.

The best climber of the bunch, Ty crouched low in one of the highest trees. He’d shucked his T-shirt and wore only his shorts. By the amount of sweat streaming down his chest, it was hotter than hell up there. Chuck allowed his appreciative gaze to linger on Ty’s glistening skin. Between his newfound desire for Shelby and Ty’s prancing around half-naked, Chuck’s poor cock didn’t stand a chance. His groin tightened as his dick began to swell.
