“I’m not worthy,” she mumbled.

“What?” Tyce demanded from behind her. “Who told you that shit?”

Piper shrugged. “Who hasn’t?”

“Oh, hell no,” Tyce said, slicing his hand through the air. “Tonight you’re going to learn you are worthy, sweetheart.”

“Until you get bored with me.” Piper smacked her hand over her mouth. They had gotten under her skin. Betrayal, thick and heavy, still coursed through her veins even though she understood they hadn’t meant to hurt her. However, they had. Colt’s green eyes narrowed, and her heart tripped a beat. A classically handsome man with a hard jaw, almond eyes, and a strong nose, his full lips were playful and tempting. She remembered the way he kissed her earlier, and her pussy clenched. “I—”

“Don’t say it. We both know you meant it. You didn’t mean to say it out loud.” Colt ran a hand through his short blond hair and blew out a breath. “What do you expect from tonight, Piper, and be honest,” he demanded. “Absolutely honest. Got it?”

Tyce stood away from both of them and a yearning so profound filled her. She took in his pensive expression. His hazel eyes were obscured by his dark lashes. His lips were tugged into a grim line, and his large frame tensed with expectancy. One of the most beautiful men she’d ever seen. Taking a deep breath, Piper cleared her throat. If they wanted her, as they claimed, she would give them her truths even if it scared the hell out of her.

“I thought with my date tonight I would forget about you and move on with my life, or I would learn how to please you.” There, that wasn’t so bad. She’d told them the truth.

“But, aren’t you moving on by resigning from the firm?”

“I mean, no matter who I found here, if we connected, I’d be able to forget about you.” Okay, so when she said it out loud, it seemed harsh.

Pain flashed in Colt’s expression. “And how were you going to learn to please these men or us or whatever your delusional mind envisioned?”

Piper winced. “I’d hoped if Madame Eve set me up with a couple such as yourselves, I could learn what my position and spot in the relationship would be. You know, sexually and other ways outside of the bedroom.” Inside her head, the plan had sounded logical, a way to gain experience, spoken…more like a deliberate jab at the men she cared about. “Oh God, what have I done?” She pressed her hand to her stomach as a wave of nausea washed over her.

They each grabbed an arm and guided her to the chair by the desk. She took deep gulping breaths of air, trembling. Her heart beat out a rapid tattoo. She’d ruined everything. How could she be so stupid?

Speaking isn’t your strong suit, Piper. It’s easier if you sit still and look pretty. You’re twice as likely to find a man that way. Her mother’s voice haunting her.

She choked on a sob. I’ll never be good enough for them.
