65 Here Marcos is referring to the New’s Divine disco tragedy in Mexico City on June 20, 2008, in which a stampede resulted from a police raid designed to crack down on underage drinking. The police blocked the exit, causing panic and a stampede that killed nine teenagers and young adults, as well as three police officers. To make matters worse, the police are also accused of having beaten and stripped naked some of those arrested and of having denied medical assistance to some of the injured.
