Logan scanned the students watching Janie walk hand in hand with Ryder as they trailed behind Arthur, SavaÅ, Tercero, and Archer. Kids were filming her, which she noticed, so before she entered the door being held open for her, she turned and bowed.
âAll right.â Lykos started the car. âTrevor will definitely hear about thatâand itâll be clear Kylieâs not with her. And if he doubted Janie was really with Ryder, heâll see the truth.â
âYou think heâll figure out where the others are?â Logan kept watching the kids. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, but that meant nothing. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary with Kevin too.
âTheyâre guarded more heavily than Janie is,â Lykos said.
He sighed, relaxing when it seemed like nothing too intense was going to happen. Plus, Janie was with Ryder againâno one would make fun of her for being alone. âWhat do you think about Dad and Lorelei?â
Lykos shrugged. âDonât give a fuck.â
Logan rubbed his tired eyes. Lykos hadnât been close to their mom, and he didnât concern himself with anything about their father. His reason for being here was Janie, and because he was ready to finish the job Logan had failed to. âRight.â
Lykos took a right instead of a left, the road that would lead them out of Blackwoods.
âThis isnât the way to the gym.â Logan scanned the road, wondering if there was something Lykos saw that he didnât.
âNope.â Lykos stuck a cigarette between his lips, mumbling, âIâm taking you to see the bitch.â
Logan had the urge to jump out of the car. âWeâre supposed to stay close to Janie today. Iâm not even allowed to visit Kylie. And donât call her that.â
âDad asked Lorelei to add us. Theyâre considering letting the girls out to attend school.â Lykos cracked the window, blowing out a stream of smoke. âAnd Janie knows about this.â
âWhat?â He pulled his phone out to call his dad, but he saw Janie had texted him.
My Forever: Just go see her as a friend. Gabriel says sheâs doing well. But she wants to leave town.
My Forever: And she thinks weâre together.
Logan ran his hand down his face, then replied: Do you really think seeing me will help her?
My Forever: I think sheâd like to know you havenât forgotten her
My Forever: And it would be nice to clear up weâre not together. Not that youâll get back with her. Just that you didnât come back to me.
My Forever: Maybe donât tell her we kissed. She wonât understand.
Logan rubbed his lips, remembering the taste and feel of her. But it was Kylieâs face he suddenly saw in his mind. Fuck.
He slowly typed out a response: I think itâll be obvious we did.
My Forever: I think once you see her, youâll forget me.
Never, was his instant reply.
My Forever: I meant the kiss.
My Forever: You think about her a lot. You focus on me because you donât want to think about her.
That was true, and he smiled, responding, Why do you know me so well?
My Forever: Because youâre forever mine.
