Dionysus: "Well, since the donkey isn't helping you, suppose you take your turn and carry him?"

We apparently bear the weight of our existence, but how so, asks Dionysus, when we are borne by donkeys, by those dainty legs and little hooves so full of mystery, immortalized in the stars? Suppose we take our turn and carry him? Better to be a donkey, quipped another Greek playwright, Menander (circa 340 B.C.), than see a bad man prosper. I can almost glimpse Gribouille nodding his muzzle in agreement. I know I agree and would nod my muzzle if I had one. It's said that humans are more miserable than donkeys because we, at least, are responsible for our cruel fate.
