– Paul is the son of Pennsylvania dairy farmers Howard and Margaret Paul. The family lived in the town of Green Tree near Pittsburgh, and Paul was the third of five sons.

– Paul’s parents were Lutheran, his children were baptized in the Episcopal Church, and he is a Baptist.

– As a youth, Paul delivered newspapers and milk, and played a variety of sports in school. He excelled at track in particular. He also headed the student council.

– He has been a distinguished counselor to the Ludwig von Mises Institute, a libertarian academic organization. He keeps a photograph of the Austrian economist on his office wall.

– He is a member of a group of conservative Republicans called the Liberty Caucus. He lunches weekly with his fellow Washington members to discuss ideas, such as ways to end the Iraq War.

– Ron and Carol Paul have at last count, three sons, two daughters, eighteen grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. He paid for the education of all five of his children, graduate school included.

– His personal finances are largely invested in silver and gold, and total between $1.5 million and $3.5 million.

– He and his wife reside in Lake Jackson, Texas. He lists his home address and phone number on his campaign Web site.
