Watch for the Small, Everyday Miracles

What is a miracle? The sky opening and God talking? A chorus of angels singing to you? An instant healing you experience or watch? A guru levitating? A boat lost at sea being discovered by a search plane or a lost hiker finding a path back to town? Maybe it's slowing down or stopping your car for some unknown reason just before you get into an accident. Is it being at a desk right when the call comes to offer you a new job, because if you weren't there the offer would have gone to another? Or maybe it's unexpectedly stumbling across the perfect new home you were looking for when you weren't even really looking?

I have to digress here and relate a few stories of my own because I think the concept of miracles, and the fact that they really do happen all the time, but we just don't notice them or call them something else, is so, so important to creating a better life for one's self.

Many years ago, when my daughter was a young child, my then wife and I took her to see the play Beauty and the Beast as it was her favorite book and video. After the play was over, I called my best friend to tell him how great the play was and that he should take his children. At the end of the call he said, “Hey, you need to check out the house next to me, it just went on the market and it's amazing. You should buy it. We could be neighbors!” I responded, “I'm not looking to move; I like the house I'm in and there is no way I can raise the money to buy a new home.” He said, “Just take a look, trust me, you'll love it.” I thought, “Sure, why not, it's just a weekend afternoon, and I like looking at new houses.”

I drove to the house and called the number on the real estate sign, and lo and behold, the broker said, “Great, I can be there in fifteen minutes.” We waited, the broker arrived, and we went in. I was floored. It was one of the most magnificent homes I had ever seen. I said to my then wife, “We have to get this house!” She agreed.

While, as I said before, I didn't have any idea in that moment how I could make this happen, how I would get the money to buy this large, beautiful home, I put the manifestation practices I have written above into action, and within a matter of weeks I had moved and began creating some of the best memories of my life, living right next door to my best friend with our children growing up together. To me, particularly looking back on what transpired, it was a miracle. Who gets to live in a dream home next to their best friend? I did. I lived that miracle.
