TO WAYNE HARSHA

410 East 57th Street, New York, NY.

April 25, 1946

Mr. Wayne Harsha, Department of English, Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio

Dear Mr. Harsha:

... I am enclosing letters I have just mailed to President Bevis and to Fullen. We are interested right now in the re-establishment of the Sun-Dial. If a simple petition from the boys and girls of “Scarlet Fever” to have the name resumed is not successful, I will be glad to attack the thing from a wide-open angle. There appear to be so many phases of the problem that it is a little difficult to try to handle the thing from so far off. Just how much is involved in the Jewish angle I do not know, and Fullen’s references to this were the first I had heard about it. I gather that by “nice kids”, he means primarily Gentiles, and this gives the business a whole new dimension. I hope the Jews have not actually been barred from the staff.

... I will wait for answers from Bevis and Fullen with great interest and will let you know what happens.

Sincerely yours,

James Thurber
