Resistance running is used by a lot of top-class sprinters and 400m runners, because it is both tough and interesting. It makes ordinary sprinting seem easy. The idea is that you are making repeated hard, explosive efforts, similar to your event; they last for only ten to thirty seconds but you go on doing them until you can’t take any more. The resistance can be provided in a number of ways:

Uphill sprints

Soft sand sprints

Weighted jacket

Weighted shoes
