Wide-mouth jars: these come in half-gallon, quart, and pint sizes. Half-gallon jars are great for storing juices and sauces. Large wide-mouth jars work better for items like pickles and whole-food fruits and vegetables.

Regular-mouth jars: these come in quart, pint, and half-pint sizes. Good for storing sauces, condiments, jellies, salsas, and pie fillings.

Mason Jar Don'ts!

First off, never take a brand new Mason jar and throw it on the ground. Most of time it will shatter on the kitchen floor leaving shards of glass everywhere. Of course I have to say this because Bob already broke his first Mason jar only a few moments ago. I told him to hand me he a wide-mouth jar, then he threw it while telling me to “think fast.”
